Bright, Bold And Connected: Meet IKEA’s New Bluetooth Speaker Collection

IKEA has introduced a new range of wireless speakers designed not only for audio performance, but also to serve as visually appealing home décor. These products continue IKEA’s tradition of combining accessible pricing, ease of assembly, and a friendly, minimalist aesthetic. While the company previously collaborated with Sonos on its Symfonisk Wi-Fi speakers, that partnership has ended. IKEA is now expanding its in-house lineup with two fresh designs created in collaboration with Swedish designer Tekla Evelina Severin (Teklan).

The first new offering is a set of circular Bluetooth speakers under the Solskydd range—named after the Swedish word for “sun shade.” These speakers emphasize bold, fluorescent colors and soft, rounded lines intended to make technology feel more approachable. The Solskydd speakers come in three sizes: 8-inch, 11-inch, and 18-inch. All feature drivers concealed beneath a fabric mesh, with the smallest model using a single driver and the larger versions integrating both tweeters and subwoofers. Prices range from $99.99 to $139.99. The two smaller versions include stands for tabletop use, while the largest 18-inch model is designed for wall mounting.

The second category is the Kulglass lamp-speaker hybrid. These devices combine functional lighting with integrated audio components. Their translucent, softly colored shades, inspired by ice cream swirls, aim to create a warm and inviting appearance that contrasts with the technology inside. Each Kulglass includes a 1-inch tweeter and a 3.5-inch subwoofer housed in the lamp’s base, offering sound suitable for small rooms. They also function as standard lamps using regular bulb sockets. The Kulglass models are priced at $129.99.

Both the Solskydd and Kulglass speakers support Bluetooth playback and include compatibility with Spotify Tap, allowing users to resume Spotify music with a single button. Users can also pair multiple units for a broader, room-filling audio setup. While Wi-Fi use is referenced, the primary focus is on Bluetooth and Spotify Tap integration.

IKEA plans to release these new speakers in December, though availability will vary by region. With their unconventional shapes, vivid colors, and dual-purpose designs, these additions aim to help wireless speakers blend more naturally into living spaces while offering playful, modern aesthetics.
